A BOT FOR A CAUSE – AUTOMATION ANYWHERE (AA)

PURPOSE: To implement API calls with Automation Anywhere and design a BOT that grabs the COVID data and send an update with a mail.

Introduction:

It would be a Nightmare that a virus outbreak overnight, but the world has changed in the raise of “CORONA”. With social distancing and self-isolation lot many practices being adopted across the globe. Everyone is dealing with a lot of uncertainty and unknowns brought on by this pandemic.

Besides, it’s a time of self-reflection and to grab an opportunity to invest in self-growth and learn new skills that could be valuable in this pandemic situation. For that, consider Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Automation Anywhere will help us learn it.

Relating to the current scenario why can’t we build a BOT that segregates all the COVID information i.e. collecting data sources thereby tracking the virus by making a list of affected areas directing people and providing timely updates through an email or trusted protocol.

This is the time for all of us to put our ideas into action for more BOT’s and improve our innovation. Whether it may be a small-time change or world change improvement we can leverage the technology to make any change.

It takes few steps to build:

STEP: 1

This was the free API website that every user can use to grab the data

STEP: 2

Navigate to this website where the data in the backend stored in JSON format

STEP: 3

With the help of the “Rest web services” command one can extract the JSON data and save it to the user variable.

STEP: 4

Save the resultant data into the CSV file which was passed dynamically through the configuration file

STEP: 5

As the task of the bot is to send the COVID information of the respective state, the user passes the name of the state dynamically through a configuration file which is called by XML command.

STEP: 6 The resultant data is stored in a CSV file which was passed by the user dynamically.

STEP: 7

An email was triggered with an attachment consisting of that particular day COVID cases.
